DESCRIPTION: Three Types of Muscles and Their Functions
The functions of the three muscle types - smooth, cardiac, and skeletal- are integral to the maintenance of homeostasis of the whole body. Skeletal, cardiac, and smooth muscles produce movements, such as that involved in breathing, the heartbeat, digestion, and elimination.
