Now I just wanted to cover one extra topic which is outside of jpgs and PNGs, you have what are known as, and I just call them gifts. So a GIF, you can actually be any type of photo, you may even have some photos that are like this naturally inside your computer. Oftentimes, these things are for moving pictures, they're those moving images that you always see, you know, they loop after two 510 seconds. So the GIF oftentimes isn't going to be the best because they, while they do have a lossless quality to them, like I said, they're more used for rendering multiple images together. So it's frame by frame by frame by frame, and that creates almost a moving video. And that's often what you want to use it for.
So moving images and these can be extremely, extremely hot. In, in low time and in file size, and sometimes some that we have, are upwards of 10 megabytes. And that's just for, you know, five to 10 seconds. So there's a lot of data that goes inside of that. And you have to be weary about you know how large your GIF is, sometimes you have to size it really far down. You also have to worry about, if that GIF will actually add quality to your post.
If it doesn't, then it's going to end up adding load times to your page. And that's going to decrease engagement and overall, that's a loss. Now when even get there to view those gifts if the page takes forever to load, so you got to be careful, you know, play your positives and negatives for it. But I do say it is highly engaging, especially if you put it at the front of an article and it's very easy, short one. You know, just a few megabytes and it has a good what I call perfect loop where you know, it's something that like looks like it's just going over and over non stop. And that's really cool for people sometimes just stay on the page for a minute or two just watching a GIF.
I'm amazed at that they won't even scroll down or, you know, move their cursor anywhere. It's, it's funny but gifts are a positive and the negative. You just need to be careful where you use them.
