Around the world today, music is written down in a number of different ways.
In the West, most instruments use a method called staff notation.
The music staff, or stave (for plural), is made up of 5 horizontal lines as shown in the figure below:

On the music staff, notes are placed on the lines:

and in the spaces:

Notes can have black or whiteheads.
This section further introduces you to the basics of music notation which forms the basis in the theory of music.
