Lemon balm is one of my favorites and I'll tell you why in a minute. So the official name is Melissa fishy analysis and this was actually discovered in the Middle Ages for its calming effect. So it's got Turpin, ease and Janelle, you've probably heard of Janelle before it kind of has a pleasant aroma. The benefit here with lemon balm is it provides sedation and multiple relaxing effect. So obviously two things that are beneficial in terms of getting prepared and ready to slip into a nice calm state of sleep. It actually has some really fascinating other properties.

It is an antifungal, antiviral, antibacterial agent that has been used for herpes in terms of rubbing it on cold sores are interesting point about that it functions as an antioxidant, that kind of like B vitamins and and green leafy vegetables. It helps to improve memory and obviously promote sleep. That's why I'm bringing it up in this context. And it also decreases pain from inflammation. And it's often used with melatonin there's particular melatonin product that I use and Love that's combined with lemon balm. And other times it's combined with flair and root and sometimes all three in the same particular product so so the dose some German studies on this I won't embarrass myself with my poor pronunciation of my high school German classes a long time ago.

But anyways, the German commission he they recommended several cups in a tea form, which would provide about 1.5 to 4.5 grams for the desired effect in tablet form, probably looking anywhere between 160 and 200 milligrams for desired effect and the timing, taking this 30 minutes to one hour before bed to allow digestion and absorption and some of the positive effects to take hold before asleep. certain groups should really avoid them involve those with thyroid condition like an overactive thyroid or taking thyroid supplementation. Pregnant women. Now there's been some reports of increasing pressure in the eyes for those who have glaucoma or would suggest there's a predisposition to glaucoma This is probably not a good agent. And interesting that it can promote menstruation. So obviously that's partly why it's not recommended for pregnant women, but it can mess up the menstrual cycle.
