So here's the what the link will get you to this certification site, you can basically click on this try free link, if you will, in this will take you to another page where basically it's going to show you the different product types and the one that you can basically, you know, sign in, if you will, all the different choices you have to that you have available to you and you can basically pick the one that you want. So in our case, we are going to pick JIRA Software. And like I said, there are other tools that are within JIRA as well or bi offered violation as well. But we're going to do JIRA Software. And as you can see there basically there are three different types of JIRA products if you will, our data versions or our bundles, if you will. rightward, you know you you can get JIRA Software by itself.

Or you can get JIRA Software good documentation. This is the confluence product that I was talking about so you can get back together. Or you can get JIRA Software software along with the help desk. If you also obviously this price differences and all those things. If you're just trying to get it for you to test it out, I would recommend this kind of getting it this one if you will, this is available for free for seven days after that it's it's going to charge you $10 a month and if memory serves me if you have modified any data are kept you know created any data within the seven days if memory serves me, you know, just check this out if you will on occasion just to make sure but I think they keep your data for a month, if you will. After that they're going to delete the data within the month if you do sign up for it, then you know you have your data available to you.

So if you click on cried for free So it's going to basically ask you some for some basic information, you know, just kind of create any any site that is, you know, not already taken. It's going to create your own URL. You can put your name, email address, what have you, if you will. So that's kind of a little bit about, you know how to sign up. Now, I'm going to kind of take you to my version that I've already kind of signed up, if you will, to kind of show you a little bit about the giving kind of a overview, or a demo of JIRA if you will. So, this is so let's kind of go through the different buttons if you will, all the different things available here.

So we have the dashboards as we talked about, this is a typical dashboard of data kind of customized it a bit. As you can see, you can add gadget, you can edit layout, you know, you have all that that you can basically do. I've been just kind of playing Get on with it if you will. So this is not something that you know I'm using right now just kind of playing around with it to give you some idea I'm just kind of showing this dashboard to you this is kind of you can share you can create a deck or you can share it with others etc. you you have projects you can create projects, these are the issues you can create filters for the issues of example, if you want to only see certain types of issues, you can create filters within within JIRA it's it's very user friendly, friendly, intuitive, either you can you know pick.

So let's let's see if we can if I can show some some of this view. So, my open issues for example, right. So, see. So, these are basically showing all of my issues, if you will, you can create very simple filters. So you can say basically current user, you know, if you want to have certain texts, that You need to have, you can basically add that here. And it's going to basically show you filter based on that if you You can also have other, you know, criteria criteria that you can basically filter with, if you will.

So there's a lot of different things that you can basically do to create your filters, if you will, I just, you know, pick resolution in this one, if you will. And then you know, as you see, that basically kind of gives me the option of what type of resolution This is, again, the workflow that I had. So I basically said, in this case, I said that basically unresolved issues so this kind of basically shows me all the issues this printer shows me all the issues that are open. So you can do that. You can also have, you know, there's an advanced version where you can basically write, you know, a kind of a basic language very similar to SQL, if you will, which is called JC equal to, you know, if you have more complicated filters, thank you. Want to create a demo?

So that's a little bit about that. Let's go back to this. If you also you can have system dashboards you can have, you can create your own dashboards as I mentioned to you previously. So, you can have multiple, you know, this is the admin part of JIRA, you know, this is out of scope for this, but you can basically create users, you know, you can basically create roles, you can create different workflows. It's a very highly customizable app that you can basically customize to suit your purpose of law. This basically will get get you back to your main dashboard.

And then you can have any any items that you have starred you can basically look at this you know, you can click on to kind of get to your favorites if you will. This is for searching, different issues, different projects, etc. And this is for creating new issues, if you will. So that's kind of a little bit about JIRA. And let's see. So this is any notifications that you want to create, you know, based on, you know, if something, you know, if I have an issue assigned, you know, somebody assigns an issue to me, I need to get a notification, you can do that here.

You can also switch to different apps in this case, you know, since we just have JIRA, you know, that's kind of what we have. But if you have Confluence and other Atlassian apps, you can basically click on this to to switch help, and then basically, finally, your profile settings. So you can do that here. Okay, so that's a little bit about, you know, overall, let's kind of go to a particular example. So, basically kind of going through projects, for example, you know, I've created some projects. Again, these are all test projects, you can create your own project, so say this is Project sample.

Okay, so notice that you know, JIRA gives you an option of creating a couple of types of projects. One is Scrum and the other one is Kanban. So you can also create like a bug tracking and project management. But in our case, basically we are going to create a scrum project. So we're just going to select that. And then basically, I'm going to create that project.

So it's right now creating a project for me. And within that project, I can now start creating the stories if you will. So I have some pre predefined stories, you know, just kind of a couple of stories that I had created. So to make things simpler, so I can do that. I can create that that kind of show you a few things before. So basically, there are a couple of ways to create issues I can just click on the thing and that will create an issue or I can just simply since I'm in the project, I can simply start typing.

So and that will kind of create a story for me if you will, since this is a scrum project, it notes it knows that the issue type is needs to be a story if you will. So, anyway so this is kind of my backlog as you can see, all this is basically related to the project, you know, you have your backlog, you have your active Sprint's reports, releases, etc, as you can see, so let me kind of create a couple of issues, the sample issues that I have, I'll just kind of create that here. I'm just going to copy paste. So the somebody's issue as the summary of the story, I'll just kind of say story one, you can label it differently if you want. And basically the details of it is here, right? It's just kind of a sample studies I picked up you know, as an it's a it's a software If you will, that we are creating, and admin needs to have these things, if you will.

So you can either prioritize it now or basically save it or to be privatized later. So this is my first issue. Let's check this. So I can basically, you know, it would just kind of, give me another creation window, if you will. Let's see if I can pick my other story. And say this is story two.

Now notice that because I was in, in a, in a particular project already, it deep wanted me to that project. So you know, we just created the scrum project, and we were in that. So all the stories are getting created here. You can assign it to other projects that he has access to as well. But you know, in this case, we just wanted to kind of create it under the scenario. Okay, let's see.

And then we have another story, and then I'm just going to create it as a story three. Okay? Also notice that basically I have these different other types of story, you know, issue types as well, as I mentioned before, but in this case, I'm just kind of creating a story type. Okay, so since this is my final issue that I'm creating here for my sample project, I'm just going to uncheck that and I'm just going to say create. Okay, so notice, I have three stories that I have created in this in this project, if you will, right. Obviously, you you're going to have many stories, you can go to the details of each of these stories.

And basically, what you can do is basically add more information to it. You can basically prioritize it. You can so you can basically do anything More, you can basically attach other things. Let's see if I can do this, I can show this to you. Okay, it's taking some time to get us to the story. Okay?

Okay, so let's see if we can look at the details of this story, if you will, I can make it, you know, some story to be watched, watch the people, you know that I need to, you know if anything changes, I need to get more details on it if he will. I can log time against it from here. I can do you know, I can clone the story and create more stories etc. So let's go to let's look at the details of the story table. So Clicking that ID, if you will just kind of get need to the details of this story. Notice that it created an ID for the story SPS is the project ID and then dash one is basically the story ID.

So I can attach more files, if you will, I can dis, keep the log of the activities or anything that I'm doing to the story basically kind of gets an order created, if you will, has a history any comments, I can basically type in any comments against a story. You know, like I said that I can attach the story, I can assign the story to others, I can basically save what status if you remember the workflow status, you know, by default, I just have three to do in progress and done I can basically mark it what you know status it needs to be. Let's go ahead and edit this story below. Okay, so this screen shows the when I click on the Edit, issue, this basically kind of gets me to this screen. Again, I can change the story name or somebody will get in tale, you know, reprioritize it, I can add files to this thing, if you will, I can add any other issues that are linked to this, if you will, as well to this to this story.

So, I can do that I can also, you know, try to, you know, start typing an issue that I think that should be linked and it would go in and basically find that issue, I can assign the issue, you know, to somebody, I can create, you know, link it with an epic a bigger story that you know, what, what this, you know, story may be part of, if you will, I can add a sprint, I can make this story part of offer sprint, if you will, so that can be done. And I can add comments here to basically, you know, as people kind of touch this story or any details to the table, they can you can you can do that and basically click on update. Okay, since I didn't make any changes to the story, I'm going to basically start leave it as is. So that's that and let's kind of go to the the project board, if you will.

So let's see. Okay, so this is my backlog. As you see, I've created those three stories, if you will, now I can, now I can start creating a sprint. So say that now I basically am creating a sprint, I'm going to label the sprint, as you know, it's on sorry, label that sprint one SPS is again, the ID for the project. So everything basically assigned associated with this project is made up of a prefix of SPS. And I want my first two stories to be in this sprint.

And like I said, that you know, this is just a sample. So I just created this three stories for, you know, to kind of give you an idea, but basically, I can, I can move, you know, just drag and drop the stories if you will. Like that. And then basically that that's it. So you know, the On all stories that are part of the sprint, and I can start the sprint I can basically you know say that you know basically what duration the sprint is going to be having it is a two week sprint, again, whatever the sprint, whatever duration we pick for the sprint is going to be the duration for all the other Sprint's that are going to be in this project. So we can't just change sprint duration as we have talked about, right.

So say if we are starting from today, then basically it's going to have an end date of, you know, two weeks from now. So basically, when we end it ending on September 11, I can put any sprint goal etc, that you want to put, you can see that it already has two issues that we can vote in this sprint backlog and then basically I can start the sprint. So now it basically gives you that workforce thing again, as I mentioned that you know this is default to do in progress and done you can as an admin you can change that work for you. can add more statuses you can add you know, change, and how they kind of flow between each other and all those things. But say once I, you know, say I'm starting the sprint today as I did, and I want to start with story one, so I just basically simply dissembled story one into that sprint and you know, in progress, status, status, you know, start working on that, once I'm done with the story, I kind of move it to the done status, if you will.

And then basically, if I want to get more stories, I can add that here as well. So that's kind of a little bit about you know, JIRA IP, well, you can you know, create releases and make sure that you know, these Sprint's are going to be part of that release for this project, if you will, you can have other components, etc. There's a lot of things for that, that are out JIRA that you know, that are out of scope for this particular training, if you will, there are separate of the trainings if you want to get interested in basic He can kind of add meaning to data and you know, other things, if you will. But this is just kind of a basic overview, to give you an idea of how JIRA works. And it's a very powerful tool. It has been used by many businesses, if you will, not very expensive, you know, for small business, if you will, it's worth the money, I think.

And you can make use of this rate. The one thing that I didn't mention earlier, JIRA has two different versions, there's a cloud version that we are using here, it's very simple. It's basically setting on occasion cloud that we don't have to worry about, you know, installing and all these things, but there's also a server version of JIRA that you know, if you want more customizations and all those things, you can basically download that and then basically install it in your own environment and manage that if you will, yourself. So the easiest thing about you know for you know, I would recommend this kind of, you know, for for this class, if you want to You know, play around with JIRA, just use the cloud version of JIRA because you know that way you can kind of get a hang of JIRA. The good thing about the cloud version is you don't have to worry about, you know, the infrastructure, the patches and all those things, you know, it kind of gets done by itself if people are violation.

So hopefully this is, this has been helpful to kind of get you going with this powerful tool of JIRA
