In this lesson we're going to revisit some of the values of Scrum in little more details as well as some of the high level users of Scrum. So as we talked about before also, initially when when I was going over the different agile methodologies of and different frameworks, if you will, there are five values of scrums or their fights come values if you will. The first one is commitment. Why commitment because we have great control over our own destiny, we are more committed to our success. If you remember, Scrum teams are self organized, they determine their destiny, how to actually deliver the product is determined by the self organized team. So hence the commitment that because we have greater control over our own understudy, we are more committed to success.
Next one is courage. Because we work as a team, we feel supported and have more resources at our disposal. This case of the this gives us the courage to undertake greater challenges, as well as it's related to another value that we're going to be talking about in a minute on on openness. Next one is focus. So focus basically, reef Tez inscom. We focus on the things that we are doing right now that are basically our our deliverables for this sprint, this two week or four week sprint, if you will, in most cases, two weeks.
We work well together and produce excellent work we deliver valuable items sooner. Okay, so our focus, we are laser focused on the items that are delivered that are to be delivered right now. Within that sprint. Next one is openness. As I mentioned, when we were talking about courage earlier, openness is as we work together we express how we are doing what's in our way and our concerns. So they can be addressed.
This is the daily Scrum meeting as we as we go through this, exploring under ceremonies, all the meetings etc, we get to know this in more detail but openness basically, is so we are able to express ourselves what we are doing what's in our way and our concerns. Okay. So, so know, being open about the challenges and the issues that we are facing. And then respect as we work together sharing successes and failures, we come to respect each other and to help each other become worthy of respect. So these are the five different values that this index comm is based on commitment courage, focus, openness and respect. And then finally, some of the uses of Scrum.
If you go Scrum, as you know, as we talked about it was introduced early in the early 90s. And since then it has been extensively used worldwide. It's used in research and, and identify viable markets, technologies and product capabilities. It's used in developing products and enhancements enhancing products. It's used in releasing products and enhancements as frequently as many times even per day. You can have even shorter sprints if you roll so it's much quicker to get things into market.
The products to market develop and sustain cloud online secure on demand and other operational environments for product use, and sustain and running products. So these are some of the different areas that Scrum has been getting used in extensively.
