In this lesson we're going to go through a very high level overview of the background or history of how Scrum came about and also provide just a high level idea about values of Scrum. Obviously, later on we are going to be going through much more details of Scrum itself, but this is just a one slide information on the background and the values of Scrum. So, initially Hirotaka technology and he could gido nonaka introduces terms come in their paper in 1986 in Harvard Business Review article called new new product development game. Later on, Jeff Sutherland and Ken Schreiber, who are considered the inventors of screen software development, if you will, picked up this concept in 1994, and borrowed the scrum name and the analogy from the HBr, Harvard Business Review paper by Dr. tacky Yoshi and Dr. nanaka. So that's a little bit about how or who were kind of involved in the creation of this comp concept, if you will.
The values of Scrum have to deal with five areas commitment, courage, focus, openness and respect. commitment that is dedication to the spec goes we'll learn about what the sprint is, etc. If you don't know Don't worry about it. Courage is to do what what you think is right. That's the second value of Scrum focus is on what is important right now. That is the work items that are in the current spread openness That is about any issues or challenges that you face respect.
That is respect everyone's opinion or, or their experience and trust that everyone is doing their best. So that's kind of a high level on the background and values of Scrum. And next we're going to be going over a couple of other methodologies before we get into Scrum itself.
