From this lesson we are going to start getting deeper into Scrum. In this lesson we are going to be talking about the different roles within Scrum. The three main roles within Scrum, the product owner scrum master and the development team. Product Owner is the holder of the product value which for our purposes what it means is he or she is the customer are the rights of the customer. This person is the one the person who is basically providing the priorities for the different stories they're providing the different stories stories for now think about it them as as equal into requirements if you will. Scrum Master is a servant servant leader.

So what he is is essentially you can think about Scrum Master as if he is the project manager. He Who will end within Scrum if he will, he's protecting the protecting the scrum processes and preventing distractions and making sure that the project keeps going for the scrum processes. Last but not least is the development team. These are the people who are actually creating the software, if you will, on the product if you go this is a self organizing group. They you know, unlike the some of the other methodologies, they are the ones who are basically thinking about you know what stories based on the priorities provided by the product owner what makes sense to pay for the different Sprint's to provide the estimate that how long it's going to take and kind of working it out together? As far as who's doing what if you go so as we talked about our product owner, are the base you know, we have these three roles product owner, project managers, And the agile teams that is basically architects developers, quality assurance people, tech writers, etc people another different looking at it from a different angle and the three roles that we talked about product owner, Scrum Master and scrum team.

These are the three deliverables of the three products that they are associated with if you will product owner owns the product backlog, Scrum Master owns the stories within the backlog and how they are getting done if you will. scrum team is the one who is providing the estimates if you will for all the different work items on the different stories if you go. Now here's some more details about a product the product owner, product owner is the product visionary he or she is the person who is providing the requirements or is the voice of the customer. And in providing the requirements of people. So that's kind of the main role of the product owner if you will, he or she owns the product backlog product backlog again is a document where you have all the requirements and in this in the case of Scrum, all the stories which are equivalent to the requirements for the product, he or she ensures scrum team works on the right things from customer perspective prioritizes the stories if you will, and determines a product backlog item was satisfactory delivered.

So once the team the scrum team delivers it, he or she is the person who was basically validating that you know, it was delivered based on what was needed, if you will. This person is ensuring transparency in the upcoming work of the product development team and empowering central point. And he's the empower central point of the product leadership. So He is being given that authority to basically prioritize the different stories to provide the different stories based on his or her knowledge and input you know, working with, I guess the different stakeholders from a customer perspective. Scrum Master, as I mentioned pink up this person as an equivalent person as a project manager, if you will in the scrum world, if you will. This person is teaching the product owner and team about their roles that he's making sure he or she is making sure that you know they are adhering to their roles, their what they are accountable for what they're responsible for, if he will.

He or she facilitates and protects the process and its factors shield scheme from external interferences, make sure that you know they are focused on what is going to be delivered in that sprint. also enables cooperation and collaboration across all roles and removes any issues barriers, if you will. So that's kind of the role of the scrum master scrum team, typically it's a cross way it's a cross functional team typically seven, five to nine people, if you will, it consists of developers test architects DBAs fees, etc. May this is a self organizing team, as I mentioned before, so this net in this team manages its own work, you know, picks up you know, assigns the people for that work based on you know, the the priorities and all these things, if you will, and then basically estimates the work and delivers it commits to do chemistry and produces shippable increments of high quality at the end of each sprint.

This this theme is the one who's basically creating the work if you will, the product if you will, and at the end of straight As we mentioned that you know, first person it needs to be demo able and potentially shippable product if you go and collaborate with the product owner for optimal value. So, this scheme is basically working with the product owner to understand the requirement details also to understand the priority if you will need to get things delivered. Next, this is kind of just a example raci matrix, if you will, for the different roles that we have. And, you know, within scamming people during the different processes steps of Scrum if evil raci stands for responsible, accountable consulting and in to be informed if you will. So, that's kind of what is so responsible means that somebody who's actually doing the work accountable means somebody who was managing resources that are doing work consulting means somebody who's a speaker That needs to be consulted, if you will, in order to, you know, to get more knowledge about that particular piece.

And then finally informed is a person who just needs to be in the loop of what's getting done if you and then just a last slide of a fun fact, if you will, and it's not a you know, pigs and chicken. Basically, in. In Scrum, the people who are actually doing work are called pigs and the people who are basically observing work are called chickens. So and the reason being, you know, you can basically read this cartoon and understand that that basically, in the case of pigs, they are getting slaughtered in order to be on somebody's food. In the case of chicken. They are basically producing eggs and not getting slaughtered in order to make the ham and eggs Breakfast if you will.
