In this lesson we're going to go over a high level overview of proficiency and master certification also known as PSM. I'm going to go through this course and and prepare you for PSM certification itself as well along with certain other things more depth in Scrum and gi etc, if you will. So a little bit about PSM itself. So PSM is offered by scrum.org. It's an industry recognized Scrum Master certification that is recognized globally. scrum.org, by the way, was formed by none other than the person who's credited for starting Scrum itself Ken Schreiber.
This certification has three levels PSM, one, two and three. And it's a bit different than some of the other certifications in that that it does not require you to take any particular class Although they have some recommendations, and they do offer certain classes, but it's not a requirement. The idea is that they are they're trying to test your actual practical knowledge of Scrum. And as I mentioned in this course, I'm going to be preparing you for PSM certification along with providing you some more tools, etc, if you will. So here's a bit more about PSM certification exam, also called assessment. The fees for that is $150 per attempt.
If you don't pass it the first time, you have to pay another hundred and $50. Like any other certifications, it's in your best interest to be able to get through the first time. This particular test is only available in the English language right now. There are a total of 80 questions in this test. And there's a time limit of 60 minutes so as you can see, time rise it's a pretty aggressive test is less than a minute per question, if you will. It's a mix off hard and easy questions and intermediate questions, if you will.
Format wise it has multiple choice as well as true false, there is an exact passing score of 85%. So you have to answer 85% of the questions right in order to be able to get the certifications. Like I said, there's no course required. And unlike some other certifications, this is you don't need to be physically at a test site. You can do this anywhere online. And as we'll see in the next slide, a little bit about registration how you do that, except it will.
But there are like I said, there are some recommended courses, you can visit scrum.org I have the links to the site towards the end of this lesson as well. So here's a little bit about the registration of for the certification is the length basically that you can follow to in order to Register for this assessment. Again, there's $150 fees and you have to basically fill out the application etc at this at the site scrum.org once you've registered, they're going to send you a password. Within a within one business day, you should be receiving this password. The password does not expire, but you can only use it one time for the for your attempt, obviously, because each time you you do it the idea is that basically you're attempting to do the assessment. So you have to take the whole exam in one setting, if you will.
If you're not successful, like I said that you have to start the process again again paid pay them and basically go register for the exam and go to the exam, if you will. Here are some links to some some important sites and are some important places on standard art that you should go and basically read through here. A Scrum guide that is comm.org provides free free of cost. So you should download. I have summarized this guide you in the lessons that we're going to be going through in this class, but it's a good idea to have the whole guide yourself. It's free of cost, if you will.
And here's the link that you can go to basically register if you go and get your assessment done.
