DESCRIPTION: Many healthcare staff have been reported to have died from Covid-19 related deaths.  Two thirds of healthcare workers who have died were from ethnic minorities.None were staff that normally wear PPE.  Majority were from BAME background.  Eighteen of the 19 doctors and dentists who have died from covid-19 were from ethnic minority backgrounds, with 71% of the 35 nurses and midwives who have died, and 56% of the 27 healthcare support workers who have died, and 29% of the 25 other staff who have died.It is clear that Covid-19 patients can present with any symptoms.  Case has to be made that all health and social care staff should wear appropriate level of PPE.  Staff should not work if they cannot secure appropriate PPE.  We would argue that health and social care staff need appropriate PPE and a fair wage, rather than badges, certificates or the previous any applauses on Thursday...
