Let's take a second here and kind of something to keep in mind watching this series. And we want to kind of explain why we even made this series in the first place. Why is this so important? You know, of course, we know we have to know how to make colors. But you really do want to master that for a few reasons as to what we just kind of want to review real quickly here before we get to the fun stuff, which is the painting. Our The thing is your painting will be a lot more fun.

If you are a good color next year. We're not talking about, Oh, can I make a green or climate? Can he make a very specific green, certain temperature in a certain type of day, things like that? skin tones and there's a lot of colors out there. That is really even difficult to recognize what the even are they're very muted tones. You know, there's some off whites and things.

And how do you make those from a bunch of bright colors that you happen to buy? You want to understand the science? What's really going on in the process? When you take two cars together, mix them together, it turns into the third car. Where does that color come from? We're going to learn from this, a lot of this has to do with the hidden colors that we don't even see in a tube of paint.

All right, that's the key. And there's things about the color wheel system that we've been using for quite a long time now. And it's really not accurate in some ways. We're going to show you what's right, what's wrong with it. And you want to experiment with it yourself. See what happens with the paints that you happen to buy, don't take my word for it, or any book or any fairy author, see what really happens.

So by knowing this process, it's really physics has nothing to do with art at this point, it all has to do with the physics of light. And by knowing those process, you'll know what to do when things are not coming out. Right. That's the main reason for this. You'll be guessing. And knowing the actual scientific process, you'll know where to stop.

And you might know or understand the pain that you happen to have just will never do, what you're wanting them to do, certain cars he won't be able to make. And that's why we'll get into that as well. Whether you should have by a lot of colors are just a few others advantages and disadvantages or reasons for doing both. But took me several years to realize myself that's why we made this is I had to learn this myself the hard way, is I, the more I studied paintings, and the more I looked at great paintings in the world, a common ingredient, no matter what the style is, is they're masters at comics. They don't have to even draw so well, even getting into abstract painting that really gets in composition with colors and how that affects all Things like the psychology of painting. Now, because mixing cars does take so much time, artists realizes they could save a lot of time by painting the background in other parts of the paint aren't quite so important, more quickly and loosely, but those colors are just as accurate and realistic as the rest of the painting.

Why does it still look good, you don't even notice this difference when you stand back, it's because his colors are dead on. So that's just one example. And many painters like most of them, they use that because they just don't have the time they would spend five times longer doing the background as detailed as the main subject and it's just not worth that time and effort. However, spending a lot of time on a painting can be worth it if you either sell copies of your painting, or use a method to painting again much more quickly. Here's a couple examples. pair is done with these oil paints.

But if I were to sell this I would not call this an oil painting. The reason for that is this is actually what we consider a multimedia. We did an original painting just like this. And we had a print made on G clay print in this case, and we printed that on actual cotton canvas. It's the same kind of canvas that you would paint on. So that would be considered a canvas print.

G clay, Canvas print, can you sell them like that they're quite expensive prints by the way. But what we can also do is come up with a whole new thing. It's not a painting it's not just a print will be considered multimedia because you can paint right on these because the our canvas, you can use acrylic paints or oil paints. But you have to be sure to indicate that if you're selling these things, Another type of multimedia is you could be painting on acrylics one minute. And painting on top of that an hour later with oil paints. And right this is another Multi Medium this speeds up the painting process, anything we can do to speed up the process.

The deadlines for painting outside this is especially important only have a limited amount of time usually. And I'll do that first coat with acrylics. Let that dry a few minutes, go right out of the cameras. So keep this in mind. You can put one medium on top of the other. Always make sure that one's on top dry slower so things don't crack ah There's nothing like a good cup of joe on your break.

Well, they immediately Well, that's what we're talking about. Let us take a quick second here. And it is important whether you're selling or buying and here's a few reasons why. What we're talking about, by the way is the process or technique of painting on top of a reproduction or print as case for using oil paint on top of Fuji clay. It's a great way to kind of give an original painting but much quicker because more people can afford these. I buy them myself if I can.

But obviously multimedia can be thousands of things anytime you using more than one medium to make a work of art that's not going to get into all that. But this is just kind of a gray area that we're doing here. They can fool people sometimes when you're buying art or hurt your credibility. If you're selling art if you don't do things the right way. So what is the right way? Well, if you're selling art, make sure that you indicate this as a original multimedia, it's still an original, because they all shouldn't be a little different if you're painting on them, right.

So that's great. And that's what a lot of people appreciate that in itself, but it's not the same as if you paint a net thing from scratch. And this is the first one and the only one. Well, why is that such a big difference? All the differences obviously, any artist knows how much trouble it is and figuring out problems and trying different techniques may be trying different compositions to get that first one, right. Once you have that worked out, even if you're painting paintings from scratch and not doing what we're talking about here paying on top of reproduction, it's much easier you'll probably do and half the time it might even come up better.

It doesn't matter. You know what you're really paying for, or what most buyers what they really respect And they appreciate money is all the trouble that the artists went through to make that first composition. And just be honest about that if you're selling and if you're buying, ask these questions in a gallery or art show or starving art shows, places where you buy art cheap. A lot of times he's not starving artists mass produce our artists and might even be real paintings. They've painted that painting of this exact same composition 23 times, maybe 100 times maybe 500 times. So it goes much quicker.

And just the value isn't worth as much as the very first one will be. So be sure to ask these questions when you're buying your art. And just on a side note, there's other types of ways to make a painting look more real like what we're talking about here. Some techniques are actually just take a paper, printer paper, reproduce peeling a very thin, and they glue it onto a piece of canvas. Because it's so thin, it has that texture to it and they put it on an emotion on their kind of a coating and then someone can paint right on top of that put a few globs of paint on there for five $6 an hour and they look pretty good. They can really fool you sometimes after cost a lot, especially people just assume this is some type of real painting done from scratch and it's not where their copies of your work are fully painted, or just enhance.

Again, the ability to identify, mix and match a color quickly is extremely important. And since a lot is invested in any one composition here, good color choices can make all the difference. And the opposite could be true. This is another reason why we made this video. There's a lot of amateur painters out there. We're really their painting isn't all that bad.

Maybe it's you know, they don't know much about realism or not painting Things like a professional would normally do. But what really makes it look amateurish, like a child painted is their colors aren't very good. They look like a cartoon. And they're not trying to make a cartoon usually. So that's the thing if they were had the ability to paint like a mixed cause like a professional, they don't have to be a professional with drawing and introspective and all those things so much, make it even more crazy style with the colors look good. And that's what so almost anyone at any age, if you just get pretty proficient and making good colors and be able to match colors, you can become a very good painter quite quickly.

Now, most students only worry about the ability to maybe match the colors in their reference material, and we know that it can be open for interpretation, but there might be times where You need to repair or rework an area on your own painting. These are the times where you really want that ability to match colors. Exactly. That's the thing, too. Let's say you don't even want to paint realistic paintings. I hear that by students, that's fine.

Well, then a week later, they're working on their own painting, you have to continue painting something and match their own colors. That's when it's a problem. They can't even match their own colors in, they look like cartoon crawlers, they still need to match. Otherwise, you see where you touched up something. So just keep all these things in mind watching this and watching other instructions, working with teachers to really do you know, ask them to help you to master game one will make cars maybe start out by making samples so just try to match a sample here and then it's a little easier to do and look at the master pings of paintings that you like and see if you can match their colors. So just make sure that you do dedicate yourself as much to color mixing and having that skill and ability as you do Drawing and other painting techniques in your paintings will come out much better
