Introduction to Premiere Pro CC and this lecture we will be demonstrating a short editing session in a screencast of Adobe Premiere editing software. It is important to state that there are few editing apps available these days in almost all of them can be easily used on almost every person on computer. I do recommend that you feel planning on doing a lot of editing, you should get yourself a powerful machine, be it PC or a Macintosh. I personally prefer my iMac, or my MacBook Pro. Something else I want to mention is that editing software's all have pretty much the same attributes and functions. So once you get the hang of one editing system, you can pretty much get the hang of the others.
No guarantees, but it is a matter of a couple of days to grasp the new functions of the new editing system like Final Cut Pro, or avid. In the next lecture, we'll dive into the interface and tools of Adobe Give me a cc so stay tuned for another lecture. All right, the beginning of our editing journey is by launching the software of the Premiere Pro CC. I'm a Mac user. So I'll be launching Premiere Pro from my dock. If you're using if you're working on a PC, you can launch it from the taskbar or the programs folder.
Now, I should mention that I have a pretty late version of Premiere Pro CC, I have many updates and stuff that you guys might not have. In general, all the versions are pretty similar in terms of software interface. So you should be in the clear if you have let's say an Adobe Premiere Pro, C, CS five and upward. The first thing we see is the welcome screen. We click the Open project tab to navigate our system and find a project or we can simply just double click the project file within This system and the project and the software will open. We are going to press a new project under the Create new so we can throw the whole process together.
Right after clicking New Project, this dialog box will open and we have to make a few choices in order to begin. First we have to name our project. It is important not to only give our project a name, we have to name it intelligently. Editing is a lot about knowing how to label sort categorize and maintaining order within things otherwise we might get completely lost. So I'll have this project surf school promotion video. By default, Adobe will save the project in our documents folder.
I recommend to save it like this. First we have a project folder like this self school promotion video which can be anywhere but the specific one is on my desktop. Within this folder, I divide usually into the following folders, footage, where all of our raw material is soundtrack, where we keep our music and sound files to D, where we'll be saving logos and other 2d elements and project folder where I usually place my project files. So, I'll choose the project folder in my parent surf school promotion video. We have couple of more options here. But let's leave them for now and press OK.
So we can start working on our stuff. By default Premier Pro will open the editing workspace, which is this configuration of windows and tools. We can access our workspace configuration by going to Window workspace and we can change replace Place and reset our working space. In case you see something different when we open in the software, you can just choose reset current workspace and you see exactly what I see here. In the next few lectures, we will be going over and getting to know the editing interface a bit better, as well as how to achieve a successful workflow and the different tools available to you within Adobe Premiere Pro CC.
