In the last lecture, or in the last screencast, we talked about how to launch an open a new project in Premiere Pro. In this lecture, we will get into more details of the software so we can get a better sense of what we are looking here. First, there is the project pane on the left bottom corner. This window is where all the arranging of our media in the project is taking care of. Above it will be the source monitor where we can preview our media and mark the shots we will edit on the timeline down here. The timeline is a graphical view of the sequence we are editing.

We can have one or more sequences loaded on the timeline together. And finally, we have the program monitor where we can view an outcome Put off the timeline. We can't really see much in here if we don't have our media files imported into the software. So let's jump into importing some stuff inside Adobe Premiere. The basic and most easiest way to import media into premiere is to just double click on the project pane, or right click with the mouse on the project pane, and then choose input. Another simple way is just to navigate to the input option under the File menu.

All options are the same, and will take us to same window where we should navigate to the folder that contains the media. If you use my instructions in the previous lectures, you should go to the project folder and then to your footage folder and select the files you wish to import. In general, if you select all the folder together Adobe Premiere will eventually choose just the proper media files, which are readable for the software. Like mo vs mp4 is full and for sound files like mp3 and WAV files will be acceptable. After we select the files or folders we wish to import, we then choose Select and the folders will appear in forms of beans inside the project pane just as they are arranged in the Finder, which is great and basically everything is ready for us to start and place the media in the timeline.

Another important thing is that Adobe Premiere not created any new folders or files by doing the importing action. It is just pointing the software where these files are located. So it's very important for us not to move Our media files now from place to place on our computer. Or we will need to rethink the media which is a rather annoying task, especially for the novice user. I just want to go over a few options and tools we need before we edit our media files. So we have everything ready for us on the project pane.

And we can simply navigate in it just like we are navigating between folders, we can see our media files if we choose a media file here, or just double click or click and drag it will appear on the source monitor. We can view it properly using the play pause button here, or we can just scrub through it using the mouse and the tracker. Another important options in the source monitor panel is the marking options, where we can choose where our where our clip starts and ends by using these brackets buttons, the left one is for marking the start point, or the end point. And the right one is for marking the ending point or the out point, we can simply use a keyboard shortcut by pressing I, that corresponds with the in market and oh, which corresponds with the out market. So now I've just marked my shot and can bring it down to the timeline.

The way to do it is to simply click and drag from the source monitor to the timeline panel, a new sequence is formed. There are many ways to do this action, but in general, this is the easiest one. So for now, in this course, we will just work like that. Go through our clips, mug them in and out and drop them in in the timeline. You can also see See the new sequence was formed here in Project pain premier named after our files that we first click and drugged so I'll just rename it surf camp video sequence. Now inside the timeline panel, I have a few options, we'll just go over the basic ones.

We can zoom in to see things in more details. By using this bar also we can use it to scroll through our sequence. Or we can use this plus and minus buttons on our keyboard just for zooming in and out. I suggest to also form another been in the project pane and call it sequences and drag and drop the sequences into it. Now, take a look here is a little gray bar which can help us crawl through our different tabs around each panel. Now we I'm not going to cover all the all the use of all the tabs in the course, but just for you to know.

Now, just before we finish this lecture, I want to go over these tools here, which, if we will hover above them, we will have a pop up that explains us what each tools is doing. And it's keyboard shortcut. These tools will assist us through our editing process. Now, we just had a pretty nice store of the interface and we can start edit our shots in. I just want to mention that even if things are not 100% identical to what you see in front of you. And here in the course, don't worry sometimes there are minor changes, but what is important is that we can start and edit our videos.

In the next lecture, we will assemble our clips into a timeline and place down soundtrack and audio
