First of all, we should download the Ubuntu image file from the official website of this Linux distribution. For this, just go to Google and type in a boon to download and then click on the first link that shows up. From here you should hit the download button associated with this version of Ubuntu and then wait for the download to finish. I have already downloaded the file. As you can see right here, this is the ISO file, so I won't do it again. By the way, don't worry if by the time you're watching this video, the minor version of Ubuntu has changed.

Maybe you now see Ubuntu 18 04 dot two LTS or some other version. The main idea here is to get the 18 04 LTS version so we can both be on the same page for the rest of this section. Once the download is complete, open up VirtualBox and let's install a fresh new Ubuntu virtual machine. You In the image we just downloaded. I've already installed my virtual machine. However, let me go through this process once again for the sake of this course.

So in VirtualBox, hit New, then choose a name for your machine, let's say boon to VM, we will go with the defaults type Linux and version a boon to 64 bit, then hit next. Now let's assign some ram resources for this virtual machine. I think you can run it using two or three gigabytes of RAM. However, I noticed a low performance using these settings on my computer. So I'm going to choose four gigabytes of RAM, which means 4096 megabytes, then hit Next, choose Create a virtual hard disk now and click on Create. Next, choose VDI Virtual Box disk image and then click Next.

Go with dynamically allocated to use your hard disk space as it fills up instead of reserving 10 gigs. gigabytes of storage right from the start and hit next. Here you can choose to increase the storage capacity of this virtual hard disk. However, I'll leave the default of 10 gigabytes for now. And by clicking on this folder icon right here, you can also select the location where you want your virtual hard disk to be saved. I will go with the default here as well and hit Create.

At this point, your virtual drive is set up, but you still need to install the Ubuntu operating system on this hard disk. To do that, leave the virtual machine powered off as it is right now. And let's go to settings and configure a couple of things. So after clicking the Settings button, first of all, let's go to the storage menu right here. In this menu, you have to click on this little icon showing a CD and a green plus sign and then click on choose disk. Next, browse to the location where you saved the Ubuntu image file and double click on that file.

So I'm going to choose this ISO image. Also, you can right click on this empty drive and select Remove attachment. Next, go to the network menu and make sure that adapter one is enabled and set to net and then go to the second tab, enable adapter two and choose attached to bridged adapter. Then from this drop down menu, just select Microsoft loopback adapter. This is the adapter that you have created earlier in the course. And now you can click OK. At this point it's time to power on this virtual machine by clicking start this green arrow at the top of this window.

As soon as the virtual machine boots up wait for the Ubuntu installation process to begin. Next, just click on Install Ubuntu. I will leave the default English us keyboard layout and click Continue. Next, I will go with a normal installation and I will also uncheck this checkbox right here because I don't want any updates. installed during installation that will most probably slow the installation process down and also consume hard disk space, which is not what we want. hit continue, go with the default option erase disk and install Ubuntu so hit install now, just click Continue.

I'm going to choose my timezone. So continue again, let's enter a user and the password. So let's say me Hi, and the password let's say Python. And I will also select this login automatically and hit Continue. And at this point, the Ubuntu installation process begins. Wait for it to finish and I will see you in the next video where we will start configuring our Ubuntu virtual machine environment.
