Now let's talk about the three life affirming zones that we all visit in our lives each and every day. And if you practice this program like I believe you should, you'll achieve more of them and have more time in life that you're enjoying. And these three life affirming zones are about being or doing in the first zone is the floppy zone, or some of us call it double gravity. When energy is slow and quiet, we can feel the gravity pulling us down into our chairs or a bed because we're so and this can happen when we practice quiet energy and slow energy skills. For the program's the videos, the audios, and it's a way to rest and recharge our thinking feeling and enhance and sharpen our skills and abilities. Did you know that when you sleep, your brain shrinks.
Just imagine a little person in your brain with a broom going through say while they were doing a lot of thinking and feeling today. Look at how much debris there is. And they go along in the body. cleans out all This little thinking debris and feeling debris in your brain shrinks. And that's why after you're up for half an hour to an hour, you start to feel like I can do this. And that's why at the end of the day, you're tired, your brain is actually swelling up a little.
So practicing quiet and slow skills helps the old noodle your brain. So the floppies zones the first one. The second zone is the flow zone. Things seem to happen here without much effort. That's we're in flow. I have a friend who rollerblades and he rollerblades exceptionally well.
And when you watch him, you go. How do you do that? It's like he was born with rollerblades on. So I don't know. I just find it really easy to do. But then when you talk to him, oh, you took a couple of lessons because you're terrible on ice skate.
So you want it to be good on something on blades. Oh, so you practice you got a training video to show you how to stop and how to jump curbs and how to jump over people if they fell down in front of you. So you've been practicing. So flow is in part, we achieve it in different situations because we've been practicing. It's about rational, emotional and physical integration. So we have a sense of balance in our lives and feel safe.
We are in flow. We're building mastery in whatever we're doing, whether it's playing a game, on the computer, in sports, in our classroom situation, dealing with, in my case, a couple of chronic illnesses, flow, big dividends, makes life easier. And you know, you've been in flow when you look at the time on your phone or your watch or your laptop or your notepad, you go five hours where to go, you were in flow. So that's the second energy that's healthy and helps us move forward in life with more happiness and success. And the third zone in this is the frightened fun zone. Some referred to as the fighting Light.
But that's before we had surround sound, HD, 4k, Dolby Surround. And frightened. Fun is exciting because that's when we cut loose. You heard we talked about be competitive. At one point I owned a small farm with 50 plus acres. There's nothing better than hide and seek with 20 or 30 adults and teenagers.
And I get to be really competitive. And I love to win, but frightened fun. I like nothing better than when somebody caught me and scared the you know what army was blue. And I'd be like, Oh my gosh, I've been caught on not winning this round to tag. So it was fun, and there's a little fright. This is a natural occurring phenomena in us to keep us safe.
Originally, it was thought that it was strictly to help us run away when there was danger, smart thing to do, or to fight if we couldn't run away. But we now know that our body also responds this way to fun. You go to the movie theater sitting back and watching the movie, movie music changes, you can feel your heart rate, the anticipation what's going to happen and suddenly and you jump out of your seat, and you oh my gosh, what was that? That was your fright flight response, but we call it frightened, fun response because it's both safety and entertainment, rationally, emotionally and physically. So three life affirming zones are states of being and doing or floppy flow and frightened fun. So, how do we achieve them?
