Hi, and welcome to this lecture on installing Python three on Mac OS. Usually most versions of Mac OS, especially older ones come with Python version two pre installed. However, since Python two slowly becomes deprecated. Anyway, you need to install Python three on your Mac OS for this course. First, let's check the version of Python currently installed in my Mac OS by simply opening up the terminal and typing in Python space dash dash version, enter. So I currently have Python two 710 installed on this version of Mac OS.
Also, let's check if I have Python three as well. So let me type in Python three, enter. Okay, so we got command not found, meaning that there isn't any Python three installation here to install On three, we're going to use homebrew the homebrew package manager. If you have a fresh new installation of Mac OS like I do right here, you should first install homebrew by simply opening up the browser right here and going to brew.sh. Next, just copy this entire line right here, under install homebrew, and then simply paste it into the terminal and hit enter. At this point, you might get prompted to install Apple's command line developer tools.
So let's agree and continue with the installation process. I'm going to hit enter. Now I'm asked for my password which is Python, enter. Okay, after a couple of minutes, the command line tools have been installed. So the installer has moved on to the homebrew installation. So let's wait for that to finish as well.
Okay, great. Now it's time to Finally installed Python three from the terminals. So let's type in brew, install Python three, enter. Okay, and now after the installation of Python has been completed, let's check if we do have Python three installed this time. So I'm going to type in Python three at the prompt. And indeed, you can see that now we have Python three dot seven dot three installed on this Mac OS.
Congratulations. Now it's time to move on to the next lecture. So I will see you soon.
