DESCRIPTION: The Belly Centre
Our belly is way more than just the area where we digest food. On a psychological level, it is the part of the body from where anger is mediated and from where we can naturally hold safe boundaries. If we&rsquo;re not present in our belly and we are in an environment where any level of physical or emotional threat exists then it will be an issue. For, in order to deal with that threat we will either have to rigidify our upper body or try to present no resistance to the potential source of danger &ndash; usually either by collapsing energetically or by &ldquo;pleasing.&rdquo; Thus, many millions of people are caught up in endless pleasing behaviors or having an upper-body that is constantly tense. Incidentally, this latter behavior is the reason why, when people are tense in the upper body, I usually recommend that they become more present in the belly &ndash; because that&rsquo;s the real source of the problem.
