BMI Vs Body Fat Percentage
BMI simply tells you if you’re underweight, normal weight, overweight, or obese.
While useful in some situations and easy to calculate, your BMI may not be a very reliable indicator of your overall health. If you’re an athlete, for example, you may have a low body fat percentage, but due to all of your muscle, you may naturally weigh more, which means you will have a high BMI.
Body Fat percentage can often be a more useful tool to track progress instead.
What is your Body Fat Percentage?

Your Body fay precentage is the % of your total body weight that is Fat.
Essential Fat will usually be between 2-5% (Male) / 10-13% (Female) of your body weight (Small Fat deposit around organs etc.).
The balance of your Body Fat is Non-essential fat. This is fat that we should be trying to minimise through both our diet and our exercise regime.
