In this chapter we'll cover the first factor of having the right mindset, which is to make sure you focus on the real problem. Let me explain what I mean by that. Do so any problem, you must first identify the root cause of the problem. So the question is, what is the root cause of weight gain and all the health problems that come with it? The answer for 99.9% of the people is a daily habitual behaviors, that is the root cause of most people's weight problem. So, technically speaking, people don't have a weight problem, what they have is a behavior problem.

Weight gain is a symptom of the habitual behaviors. So, the first factor that makes up the right mindset, sustainable weight loss is to make sure you focus on the real problem and that symptom. So to be clear, People's Daily habitual behaviors is the real problem. They are responsible for the waking So the focus should be on how to change or eliminate those behaviors and not on the way that they want to lose. Most people unfortunately focus too much on scale, and they're almost always backfires. And let me explain why.

In order to lose weight, most people need to eliminate three unhealthy habitual behaviors and need to build usually another three or four healthy behaviors. If you go ahead and make all the necessary changes in your habitual behaviors pulled at once, although you might lose weight fast. The problem is that it requires a lot of conscious effort and neck creates a lot of discomfort, which almost always leads to burnout and quitting. Unfortunately, this is the way most weight loss programs approach weight loss, and this is why 90% of the people who lose weight and regaining the way back. The best way that the only way to make permanent changes in your habitual behaviors is to focus on changing one behavior at a time. The problem with this is that if you're obsessed with the scale, and after you change one unhealthy behavior, you don't see any weight loss, you feel defeated, and you're more likely to give up.

Remember, most likely, you need to change more than one habit before you start to lose weight. But if you're only using the scale as a success indicator, you will end up feeling like this is not working and end up giving up on yourself. So you see, focusing on the scale is a catch 22. Let me explain what I mean by that. If you go ahead and make all the necessary changes in your habitual behaviors all at once, in order to see the scale move, you're more likely to burn out. But if you change one habit at a time, you might not see the skill move right away.

And you might feel like it's not working out and again, give up. So What is the answer? The answer is actually pretty simple. change the way you measure progress. Instead of measuring progress on the scale, measure progress and how you're doing and habit you try to develop. In other words, let's say you're trying to cut down on junk food, and you go start eating junk food during the week.

Let's say last weekend, that being junky 10 times during the week, and this week, you end up eating junk food seven times. This is a great week, you did better than last week. The only thing is skills before you tell you if you change enough habit to affect you wait, by the way, that you know that wakings actually a blessing. Yes, you actually heard me correctly. The reason I call it a blessing is because it's a clear signal from you by that you engage in behaviors then that good for you help. Many people don't get the same message until it's too late.

I know plenty of people who had really bad habits but because it did not gain weight. They thought it was okay until they had a heart attack a stroke or develop some other disease. At least when you gain weight, you know you need to change something and that something is always a behavior or to remember, weight gain is only the symptom, you habitual behaviors is the real problem. So keep you focused on the behaviors you need to change our work and changing only one behavior at a time. Your homework is to read the PDF report that's included in this chapter.
